The Works of Faith

21 Dec

Those that were first called Christians are shown to us as lights to help us to gain confidence that we are on the narrow path to eternity, home in heaven.

We are told in Acts that those early Christians searched the scriptures daily to find out what God says about various questions and God’s view on life. (Acts 17:11)

God in his Word tells us that except you have faith as a little child you can in no way enter into heaven, that we put ourselves in danger of the judgment when we try to walk on our own. (Mark 10:15, Luke 18:17)

The very chosen people of Israel, our Lord and Savior calls, children of the devil. Why is that?!? Because they made the law into traditions, and by their traditions have left the faith and made the traditions of greater importance than the looking for the promised Savior. (John 8:44)

Sadly today we have seen this thinking taken to the extreme. Many choose a place of fellowship based upon how that religion lines up with their beliefs, rather than entering into a building and finding out if the teachings of that group line up with God and Trust God and make God their center of life. In approaching life this way when we do these things we make our own reasoning our god and we leave out Christ. (1Corinthians 1: 11 and following)

God in His word tells us that you can not find bad fruit on a good tree, you cannot find false doctrine on the tree of life. (Matthew 7:17) That the teachings of men cannot stand as equal to God. “If a man guard my Word he shall never see death” (John 8:51)

God also tells us that His word is Christ. That His Son, our Lord and Savior, is His Word. When we therefore put our own thoughts and justifications of and for our actions equal to God and His word we are cutting out Christ. (John 1:1) At what point do we no longer have Christ? When you tear off a limb?

When our Lord and Savior walked this earth, we see examples of the truth setting free and truth being sharper than a two edged sword. And when the rulers of the synagogue took the Word of God, given through Moses, and made it into traditions that were supposed to give righteousness, they got their noses bent out of shape because, the truth was they were on the way to eternal death. By their traditions they were excluding the Savior. And of them God says “I came not to call the righteous but sinners unto repentance.” (Mark 2:17)

Probably the darkest truth is that those of the mindset, whether known or not, who chose tradition over God, or man’s word over God, or their own ability to reason and pursue truth according to themselves (which is not truth) God will say in the last day, “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Mathew 7:23)

All things will be revealed at the last day. All eyes shall behold Him. Pity be to those who choose to live their lives justifying themselves with untruths.

Eternity the next stage of life, is forever, billions of years. Is anything in this life worth eternal death? We pray you become as little children, who through placing God’s wisdom above your own find the glory of eternal peace!
