Guarding vs Keeping

9 Aug

Sometimes it appears that the mindset of true Christians has all but disappeared. God in His Word asks will there be Faith when I return. Luke 18:8

The early church after the resurrection of Christ Jesus searched the scriptures daily to find out if it was so. Acts 17:11 The Faithful have always been of the mindset of a little child in following God. Mathew 18:3-4 The bible is filled with testament of what faith is always.

The Devil approached Eve with, Why “you will be as gods knowing Good and evil”. Today in the advent of technology that same spirit of being equal to God exists even stronger. How often have we heard , well if God gave us the ability to choose He must have meant we can make up our own mind we can decide for ourselves what is right and how we want to walk.

God’s plan for us is that we choose to follow Him in every aspect of our life. That we would put everything else that would seem important in our life, family, friends, status, behind Christ and faith

The mindset of man has been the same since he was created. And the working of Lucifer has always been the encourager of man to be independent of God and at the same time dependent upon him. Truth is in God and His Word.

So it is troubling when men who set themselves up as teachers of the gospel show so little regard for the Word of God that they, under the excuse of it being easier to read, would choose the NIV over the KJV.

Romans 1: 16 (KJV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:16(NIV) 16I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

The depth of the words in that passage are missed to a certain degree in the NIV.

I personally did a study in the 80’s to research the variants of the Greek text. One of my reference books showing the differences in the Greek behind the King James and that of the NIV. The list is 69 pages of omissions in the NIV each page has 3 columns. Two columns on one page show the omission of God “Theos” more than 160 times. To give you the reference as to the fineness of the print and enormity of the quantity of the omissions. Doing the math 80 times 3 times 69 equals 16,560 omissions and substitutions!!! Found in the NIV!!

And God shows what faith is, in His word

John 14:15-16 If ye love me, keep guard my commandments orders (in the Greek).16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep guard my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

John 14:21 He that hath my commandments orders, and keepeth guards them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth guards not my sayings words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

The Word of God is infallible and the choice of words here, show that faith is not about doing something to keep His Word, it is a passive attitude that exists in the heart of a believer that will not allow God’s Word to be tampered with in their presence.

When you realize the truth of guarding vs keeping where guarding is like that of a little child looking contrary opinion in the eye and with hands on the hip says, “well my daddy says” then my friends you have got something.

Are you by your life Guarding God’s Word?? I hope so as this is saving Faith given by God!

May God work in your heart to make guarding His word a priority in your life!!
