The Choices We Make!

20 Jul

Is it not interesting that what follows greatness is not always improvement.

Take for instance the greatest generation as coined by Mr. Brokaw, a generation so deprived we are told, but rose up to become the enablers of the next generation, my generation the ME generation.

The ME generation is the result of timing, a whole lot of things came together in manufacturing and economies of materials and technologies never seen before on the face of the earth. The ability to see whole worlds of opportunity open up. The possibilities boggled the mind of those that had just come through some tough times, not the toughest times in the world, but some mind twisting evils seen at a greater scale than in most history.

When you look back you see the mind set of knowing there is a better life of ease and by golly we want our children to never have to go through what we did. They did not understand that what made them great were the trials, the hard times. For the first time in the history of the world man was able to produce goods like no other time in history in such quantities that no one needed to go without. The desire for giving a better life for their children opens up a Pandora’s box.

Because the next generation with no motivation to better themselves (now that is not true of all, as some seized the momentum of society and became some of the richest the world has ever seen) filled their lives with seeking pleasure, even to the forbidden or depraved fruits. The ME generation has been all about me with pleasure seeking and ingratiating that has destroyed family and decency and replaced it with uncontrollable spending and pleasure seeking, that has ripped the moral fiber of this world to shreds.

We have seen the displacement of caring for others and being a community that is one, to where the very personal intellectual property of the individual is sacrificed on the altar pleasure seeking. Because of this series of events and this surrender, we see violations of the rights of the individual being violated to unheard of levels.

Because of pleasure seeking we see untold individuals being murdered by the millions, never even allowed to take a breath. We see violations of natural laws let alone decency in every part of our society. God says it best, you cannot serve two masters, you cannot serve both God and mammon; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. The words in the Greek for rich man are one who trusts in riches, or places something or someone ahead of God in importance. God is does not condemn the wealthy, God is stating that you need to put Him first in your life. And if you or I put anything ahead of Him we are lost.

Do not be tricked out of your birthright. Your birthright is eternity in Heaven. Death passes over by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ the Lord.
