Lately I have been thinking a lot about TREES and CROSSES.  Several weeks ago we lost a beautiful birch tree in our back yard, during a very powerful evening windstorm.  I miss the shade and the privacy the tree provided for our family.

Then we received an article about the laminin, a little DNA CROSS found in each of our bodies, which I will speak of later in this article.

The words of Psalms 1:1-6 have long ministered to me.  Once again I am reminded that Psalms One speaks of TREES, and how a man will be blessed if he, like a tree that is flourishing, plants himself beside the waters of refreshment, that of fellowship and relationship with the Lord providing.

Psalms One———Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2) BUT his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law doth he meditate day and night. 3) And he shall be like a TREE planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4) The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5)  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6) For the Lord knoweth the way of the unrighteous, but the way of ungodly shall perish. For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water which bringeth forth much fruit.

Going back to the fallen tree I our backyard to further illustrate, one knows that if this tree in our backyard been rooted and grounded properly it would not have fallen over in the strong storm.  Therefore, each of us needs to become rooted and grounded in the word of God so that when the strong winds blow, we won’t fall down.

In God’s word we find a TREE of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden.  This tree was in the midst of the garden, man was told not to partake of the fruit on that TREE.

Man fellowshipped with the Lord continually and at the end of the day the Lord came down and had great one on one fellowship with Adam & Eve.  This special fellowship with God was taken away when Satan entered the garden setting, and deceived Eve, with words of deception, which said, Yea hath God said, if you eat of this tree you will have knowledge or good & evil.  The thirst on Eve’s part for knowledge like the Most High God, let her to be deceived by Satan, the angel of darkness, and Eve & Adam’s fellowship with God was broken.  Eve was sentenced to pain and sorrow in childbirth, and Adam to hard labor the rest of his life providing for his family.  The final blow, was Adam & Eve were cast out of the garden of Eden, a perfect place, into a imperfect world filled with pain and sorrow, and labor for rest of man’s days, without fellowship with the Lord.

Our heavenly Father had to send His Son out of love to live among us, and to sacrifice His life for us on the tree of Calvary, so that we might have eternal life, and be free of the curse of sin.

The Lord gave His life for ALL of us sinful men.  Satan thought that Christ’s death would be the end of things, and that with Jesus out of the picture, he could rule the earth.  But, the Lord had another plan; He took away the chains of sins & death with the death of His son.  The story of death on the TREE of Calvary ends with true hope and rejoicing.  The Lord is not to be found in the tomb, He is risen from the dead, leaving the tomb of death, and returns to Heaven to be at the right hand of His father. What a blessing to know that the Lord is available to each of us 24/7, and is there for us, to love and that the Lord wants us to fellowship with Him.

Every person who has ever been born on this planet carries a CROSS in their bodies.  The glue that holds all of us together in our bodies is in the shape of a CROSS.  This glue is called laminin.

Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every tissue.   You see…. Laminins are what hold us together… LITERALLY. Laminins are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell, without them, we would literally fall apart. Laminins are in the shape of a CROSS.  If this doesn’t make you believe in a creator nothing else will, the Laminins in our bodies are in the shape of a CROSS.

The words of Psalms 139:14 say it all:  I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well.  We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and each of us has a cross a little homing device in us, holding us all together in the shape of a CROSS.  Without receiving the gift of Salvation we are literally living lives that are falling alert.

The Lord tells us that when we get to Heaven to live with Him, that He will have a TREE of life eternal in His great city.  We will live forever with the Lord in His home, if we believe that He is the Christ the Son of the living God.  To have all eternity to thank,   and praise the Lord for His free gift of Salvation seems only fitting.  Truly, it will take ALL eternity to thank the Lord for what He has done for us.  We were without hope, cast out of the garden, and because of the Lord’s sacrifice on the TREE, we can live forever in the Lord’s home with a TREE of life in the center of our eternal home.

The words below are to a beautiful hymn written by Isaac Watt. When I survey the wondrous CROSS-

  1. When I survey the wondrous CROSS
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
  2. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
  3. See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
  4. Were the whole realm of nature mine,
    That were a present far too small;
    Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Everywhere we look the Lord gives us so many infallible proofs!   written by Ruth
